Marcus' Paintings

Since my main blog is getting big and some requests to see more of my paintings are arriving, I though I would create this one and leave the other for travel snaps. Below are most of my paintings that I have pictures of. Due to the Blog set up, the oldest painting is at the bottom. I hope you enjoy them and remember, I do take offers.

Return to blogging as a contemporary artist - full time

So sorry it's been such a log time since my last post, been concentrating on painting and developing my own website. Since everything these days appears to need to be in a category, I've decided to labelled myself as a contemporary modern impressionist and paint a variety of abstract impressionist paintings blending into classic modern impressionism. However I prefer to say my work is contemporary art, impressionist paintings. Follow the link and do come and have a look, my latest painting shown below I've called 'Waiting'.

Who's Dreaming

Oil on Canvas (60cm x 150cm (I think)) 2006

The woman in the actual picture is much fainter so she doesn't stand out as much. There's also a bigger distinction between the brown and blue sides to the painting. Still, I quite like this painting. It's quite big and as a self potrate goes (it's my face lying down in the corner) it's a bit different.

Sunrise over Bophut

I have seen a few sunrises now in my bid to be up early. However this is a painting of a sunrise I saw just before I went to bed, as a storm started to roll in.

Little India in Singapore

An energetic picture that I think just
holds together. It was just before the festival of the Cow amongst Singapore's Indians.

A Little Music

Probably my weakest painting I haven't painted over. I couldn't do anything to make this painting work. Still, there is going to be some duds.

Shoes of the Holocaust (40cm x 120cm - Oil on Canvas - Sep 2005)

This is a painting of a sculpture on the Danube river banks in front of the Parliament building in Budapest. There are 30 pairs of shoes of normal size which symbolize the murder of Hungarian Jews shot during WWII. They were forced to undress and their bodies dropped into the river. It’s a very powerful image, which is why I used this angle where the shoes seem huge.

Coming or Going (Oil on Canvas, 80cm x 120cm- September 2005)

My biggest painting so far. The size helps this one work. I like the way that even though the painting is completly blue, it has a warm feeling about it, much like the boat painting below.

Sunset on Liberty Bridge (Oil on Canvas 70cm x 100cm - September 2005)

Painted in Budapest, in fact first public painting which went better than I though, no major madmen interupting me. I sang to myself which seemed to work. Big credit goes to Steff who even though she was on holiday from the US carried this canvas 40 minutes each way in quite strong winds without getting a bridge print on her face. Her help was instrumental in getting this painted, cheers.

It may be interesting to note that the shadows and reflections aren't quite right since the sun only took 20 minutes to set behind Gellert Hill once it went past the right hand town. I left it that way as I thought it made it more real.
